Essence Magazine has Furloughed Company Staff Due To Crushing Coronavirus Pandemic
Due to the coronavirus pandemic Essence magazine it's only paying their employees through the week after having to furlough them
One of America's most established and most popular significant distributions devoted to Black ladies perusers has furloughed some staff. In a press release on Tuesday, Essence said it had been compelled to leave staff because of income misfortunes because of the Covid pandemic, which drove the distribution to drop significant occasions, for example, the ESSENCE Festival of Culture.
“Six months into an unprecedented and continuing global pandemic, COVID-19 has had a broader and longer-lasting impact than anyone expected—and Essence Communications, Inc. has not been immune to it,” the outlet said in an announcement. “The company informed impacted team members today, and while no furloughed employee will perform any work on behalf of ECI during this period, we will pay everyone impacted throughout this week and will cover their medical benefits premiums throughout the furlough.”
The distribution said that while it would just compensation staff pay rates as the week progressed, it didn't envision the leaves enduring longer than six months. Essence is the most recent in a progression of media distributions that have executed vacations during the pandemic, including Vox Media, magazine distributer Condé Nast, and BuzzFeed News, which reestablished full pay rates for workers lately.
